Sparrow's Landing is a weekly homeschool gathering for middle and high school youth. Although some of what we offer is more academic in nature, Sparrow's Landing has a unique focus on helping students explore their giftings in the areas of creativity and the arts. We believe in the healing, life-bringing power of art. When we partner with Holy Spirit to create, we enter into a space of play and childlike wonder, which is more about finding joy in the process than a polished product. We want Sparrow's Landing to be space where youth feel at home - free to learn, grow, and be their beautiful, one-of-a-kind selves.
If you know any youth who are passionate about creativity and Jesus, we'd love to have them join us this fall!
"Even the sparrow has found a home, and the swallow a nest for herself, where she may have her young—a place near your altar, Lord Almighty, my King and my God. Blessed are those who dwell in your house; they are ever praising you." - Psalm 84:3-4 (NIV)
"...and he has filled [Bezalel] with the Spirit of God, with wisdom, with understanding, with knowledge and with all kinds of skills— to make artistic designs for work in gold, silver and bronze..." - Exodus 35:31-32 (NIV)
We will meet every Thursday afternoon from 12-3pm for the above classes. We ask students to bring a packed lunch. We will eat together during the first 30 minutes of our time, as we share a brief devotional and go over the direction for that day. At 12:30, we'll dig into our focused learning time.
We will also host one Friday gathering each month (on the final Friday of the month) that will specifically focus on exploring various forms of creativity through the lens of being a Christ follower. We'll invite guest speakers, enjoy rich conversation, practice various art forms, and share food and fellowship!
If you're interested in learning more, please reach out to us. We will then provide you with the exact location (in central Lexington), our book selections and semester schedule, give you details as to how we ask parents to contribute, etc. Space is limited. We're so excited about what God has in store for us!
